Amazing mobile phone potential in Africa
Mobiles have become transformative across Africa. It is an amazing story. Any plan for evangelism or discipleship in Africa, which does not integrate mobile phones at some level, is severely handicapped. Education and distance learning can use mobile phones.

What is this 'good news' that Jesus-followers go on about?

Africa is a huge continent. While I agree that there’s amazing potential for lots w/mobile there, as a continent, that’s too broad a focus. Each country has several types of mobile contexts. Absoutely nothing that we can do that aims for “Africa” can work for everyone. Same as we don’t do North American mobility, we do USA, Canadian, etc. contexts.
Hardest part of this is also the lack of and speedly growing middle class in various points of development in Africa. That’s where mobile in ministry happens (to date with current methods). Nailing the theological and practical needs for that economic group in Africa and other emerging economies is the sweet spot for activity.
Interesting. I think all African missionaires should read this. I’m reposting it to Athenians, a Christian news aggregator. You can check out the comments it generates athttp://www.athenians.info/stories/mobile-phone-missions-potential-in-africa
