Understanding followers of the prophet
To share with Muslims, we do need to understand how they think. Here are several articles to help us think through these issues:
- The Missing Father – explaining a Trinitarian Concept of God to Muslims
- Understanding shame cultures – completely different to the culture you probably belong to
- Oral Communication Cultures – although Muslims are people of the book, they are also within a broadly oral communication culture (as indeed are many westerners who do not get much information from print media)
- Well-meaning but erroneous claims for the origin of the term ‘Allah’ have created problems in ministry. In fact, “virtually all quranic religious vocabulary, including the name “Allah,” and virtually all the forms of worship, except those specifically related to Muhammad, were used by Jews and/or Christians before they were used by Muslims,” as this paper explains.
- The Web provides a unique opportunity to reach into these nations, as this page explains. Check the links, including John Edmiston’s new PDF article, and the downloadable mission challenge videos.
