Paul in Athens
Two interesting posts about Paul’s contextual approach in Athens:
Did Paul Make a Fundamental Mistake in Athens? – Paul the Philosopher: Part I
Paul as a Culturally-Relevant Bridge-Builder: Paul the Philosopher: Part 2
These posts come from the Parchment and Pen blog by Michael Patton and team, which is well worth following if you have time. Michael is a 5-point calvinist, but has a generous spirit towards those with other viewpoints, and is also very honest about weaknesses in arguments he propounds, as well as about pain and issues in his own life. So you don’t have to be a 5-point calvinist, indeed an any-point calvinist, or agree with all that is written on the blog, to get some valuable insights from it. Often, as in the links above, you will find a depth of background detail that is hard to find elsewhere.
And two valuable posts on contextualization from church planting expert Ed Stetzer: Calling for Contextualization:
Part 1 | Part 2
