Digital Evangelism Issues

Japan is a highly tech-savvy nation, and a highly-unreached one. Few Japanese people are likely to know a Christian socially. Digital media are therefore strategic for starting spiritual journeys that will then be developed and nurtured by relationships.

Japanese have an intense love-relationship with their mobile phones, as John Gibbs explains in the Worship and the Arts blog.

We have brought together a range of links and resources for Japanese digital outreach, which includes a YahooGroup for those interested in this field. See also the Reaching Japanese for Christ conferences held annually, next one in March.

Video also offers huge potential. Studio Re is a group of Christian artists who are producing films that lead Japanese to discover that there is more to life… much more. They produce films in a variety of genres that present redemptive content and pose crucial questions. These films seek to affect and change the shape of contemporary Japanese culture and its inhabitants by assuming a biblical paradigm; offering redemption instead of separation, hope instead of resignation, design instead of chaos. It is a sowing ministry that will prepare the minds and hearts of the Japanese in order to shorten the spiritual distance between them and Jesus Christ.
